What we checked
Each health fact was checked against the National Institute on Aging or Mayo Clinic, and each source is listed with the date we read it. Every answer was checked against its activity, every page was checked for text that runs off the page, and every file was opened in three PDF engines.
What hasn’t been tested
The journal hasn’t been studied in a trial. We don’t claim that it improves memory or prevents decline.

Questions
Questions, answered
Is this a keepsake memory book?
No. It’s a memory practice journal: short daily exercises and everyday memory habits. If you’re looking for a book to record family memories, our sister kit Shoebox to Storybook is made for that.
Is it a printed book, and do I have to print it?
It’s a digital product: printable PDF files you download after paying. No physical book is shipped. You don’t have to print it, either. You can read each day on a screen and write your answers in any notebook. If you do print, print one week at a time, or just today’s page. Page 6 lists the pages for each week.
Is the print large enough to read easily?
The main text on every page is 18 point, and each page leaves room to write. Labels and page footers are smaller.
Does it come with answers?
Yes. The answer pages (pages 49–54) cover every activity. Some activities have one right answer. Others are personal, so the answer pages give an example instead.
How long does each day take?
About ten minutes: roughly six for the activity, two for the memory helper and two for the check-in. These times are a guide. Take longer whenever you like.
What if I miss a day?
Pick up where you left off. The tracker records the days you practiced. It doesn’t count streaks.
Will the activities be too easy, or too hard?
Every day has an easier option, and it counts just the same. For more of a challenge, cover the page before you answer, or come back to an activity a few days later.
Do I have to write a lot?
No. Most answers are a few words: a short list, a name or one line. If writing is tiring, choose the day’s easier option, which is shorter, or write in a notebook with a pen that’s comfortable to hold.
How is it different from a puzzle book?
A puzzle book gives you puzzles. Each day here pairs a short memory exercise with an everyday habit you can use the same day, such as a usual place for your keys or a note after you meet someone. It also has a 30-day tracker, weekly reviews, answers and a list of sources.
Will it improve my memory or prevent dementia?
Is it a memory test, or for someone with dementia?
No to both. There are no scores, cut-offs or comparisons with anyone else, and the journal wasn’t designed or tested for people with dementia. If memory changes worry you, talk with a doctor. Some causes of memory problems can be treated.[1]
Can I give it to someone else?
Yes. At checkout, tick “Give as a gift” and enter their email address. You can add a short message, or stay anonymous. Gumroad emails them the download link and sends you the receipt. How gifting works. It lands best as an invitation to something they might enjoy, ten calm minutes a day, rather than a fix for their memory. The free three days are an easy way to see if it suits them first.
Can I use it again, share it at home or use it with a group?
Yes. You may print as many copies as you need for yourself and your household. If you lead a class, club or activity group, you may also print the daily pages for its members, free of charge to them. The reprint pack holds the tracker and helper pages (journal pages 37–48) on their own, so they’re easy to print again. Please don’t share or resell the files.
Does sleep matter for memory?
It can. Mayo Clinic lists sleeping well among its everyday memory tips: not getting enough sleep, and restless or often-disturbed sleep, have been linked to memory loss. If snoring disrupts your sleep, Mayo suggests seeing your healthcare team.[5] If sleep is the harder part for you, our sister kit Calmer Nights, Easier Mornings is a two-week sleep and morning routine, one change at a time.
Which paper size should I choose?
US Letter (8.5 × 11 inches) for the United States and Canada. A4 (210 × 297 mm) for most other countries. Both have the same pages and page numbers, and you get both.
